Its overall and waterline lengths are 50.5m and 48m respectively, draught of the hull is 1.95m and the maximum draught is 3.2m. The vessel features a mono-hull made from steel and is classified by Philippine Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). 50m multi-mission vessel design and capacities Incat Crowther, a naval architect based in Australia, was awarded a contract to design the two 50m ships in February 2016. The vessels, worth approximately P180m ($3.83m) each, will be operated by the Department of Agriculture, through the BFAR. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), an operating agency of the Philippines’ Department of Agriculture (DA), invited bids for two 50m offshore patrol vessels in June 2015. They can also be used for disaster relief, rescue as well as for seaborne research operations. The vessels are intended to perform patrol, surveillance, monitoring, protection, law enforcement and combating illegal fishing in territorial waters of the Philippines. Keels of both the vessels were laid at the Josefa Slipways shipyard in San Roque, Navotas city in the Philippines in January 2016.
